AUGUST Design Team Reveal

Wow, SUMMER has gone by way too fast... and with September upon us, we present the AUGUST Design Team reveal. For August we celebrated summer, and here is what we came up with.

Morag created this gorgeous layout of her daughter enjoying the summer sun. I love the way the bright colors of the QUICK QUOTES Good Times line of papers POPS off the black cardstock background, just a stunning look. I also really like how Morag used 2 different sets of thickers to make her title, these American Crafts hat box thickers and these gift box thickers too. That handmade strawberry just amazing, I'm thinking Morag needs to make me one of those, lovely job Morag!

Debbie chose to do a layout with beautiful nature pictures as her summer themed project. I just love how she was able to use so many interesting photos on her layout, but still highlight a true focal point photo with the big circle. A really awesome design. Debbie used the My Mind's Eye LUSH BLOOMS as the paper line here, love the scalloped paper and the die cuts too! The little added creatures are so cute, they are actually rubons from Maya Road added to colored paper, cut out and then adhered. Her title is made from brand new American Crafts glitter thickers in the LAX font. What a pretty layout Debbie, thanks for the inspiration.

Trish made the bright colors of the Chatterbox Eclectique line so FUN. Love all the hand cut flowers and butterflies, they are such a pretty addition to her layout. There are so many super design details in this layout, big scallops, fun brads, curly bling and the cool angle of her picture, what a fun perspective. Super job Trish, thanks so much for sharing!

I chose a summer picture of my DD and my brand new niece for my layout. Love the idea of a brand new day for a subject. The Chatterbox Happy Day papers and embellishments are some of my favorite EVER. The colors are perfect for any season and the 3D embellishments are full of glitter, so pretty. I used some hand stitching and some hand cut flowers to embellish my layout. For the flowers, I used the curvy part of my paper piercer to give the flowers dimension. Just curled the petals around it. The quote says, "a brand new day is full of wonder, hope and dreams of possibilities".

Hope you get some inspiration from our summer themed layouts. (Just FYI, Kary has been on vacation and will return for next month's reveal!) Thanks so much for taking a look.

FINALLY got my AllyScraps July DT reveal done!!

and just wanted to share it with you--I missed the reveal in late July due to my friend's unexpected death--the week that the DT was doing this reveal, I was unable to participate in the fun--

So, I am posting it late, but better late than never, right?

The requirements for the reveal was to follow this sketch by the VERY talented Debbie Gaydos

For this challenge, we were given three pieces of American Crafts paper, one pink Bazzill flower, a black brad, a yellow Glitz arrow, and were told that we could use TWO other products for the challenge--I chose stamps and my Cricut (which I consider a "product", right??)

So here is my LO based on the sketch and the collection we were sent--I turned the sketch on its side like this

This was really fun to do and can't wait until the September challenge at AllyScraps

Summer Memories

Mini albums are such a great way of capturing a memorable summer vacation. Maya Road have such wonderful chipboard albums that are such great value for money.

I chose the tree album as my base. The pages are big enough to hold a 4" photograph. I love the way there is a separate 'trunk' for the front page.

I covered the whole album in gorgeous Garden Party Lush Blooms from My Mind's Eye. The prints are just the right size for a mini-album.

By keeping the embellishments simple, I was able to complete the album really quickly. I used the beautiful K & Co Mira stickers which are 3 dimensional and shiny and stamps from October Afternoon.

So why not print off your photos and spend an evening creating the perfect mini-album to bring back all those memories from your Summer?

Scraplift Chain and a new sketch challenge!

We've been having a blast on the forum with a new game: a scraplift chain! This round is just wrapping up, but I'm sure we'll do this again in the future. You can check out this thread to see the great completed lifts!

For my page, I lifted Trish's we're tongue rolling. My page, those magical eyes features the fun new Dream Street Fun & Games collection, definitely one of my faves from them! Also the new glitter chipboard Thickers by American Crafts.

Here's my page:

I used a piece of Kelly Panacci chipboard from the 360 collection also, stamped on it, and then added some diamond glaze on top. I love the effect!

See how pretty those glittery Thickers are?

And, coincidentally enough, since it's time for a new sketch challenge, today's sketch is based on this page! Here it is:

I would love to see what you do with the sketch, and don't forget to post your page in the Sketch Challenge thread for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate to the store!

Make Your Own ButtonBrads!

Hi Everyone!
I have been at it again! Searching the web for more "make your own embellishment" ideas; and I keep finding more!

Today I am going to share with you a link featuring making your own buttons and/or brads! (I say and/or because you can simply make them buttons or you can go a step further like on the directions and make it into a brad for easy attachment!)

Here is the card I made (the black/white polka dot flower center is the brad that I made following these directions):

This is a great way to get a customized look for your pages or cards because you could buy ANY fabric! I also think you could try pattern paper with the button kit as well!

Here is the link (from a friend of mine's blog)

buttons to brads tutorial

Enjoy!
